Pyrenees Magic 100km Bike Ride
For the past 15 years, in November, a dedicated group of Maryborough cyclists have organized a 100 kilometre cycling ride, welcoming riders of all abilities and taking in the scenic roads around Avoca.
The ride, known as Pyrenees Magic, takes in the townships of Moonambel, Landsborough, Elmhurst and Amphitheatre and back to Avoca.
Riders come from as far as Hopetoun, Geelong and Gippsland to take on the circuit, and with as many as 180 riders, everyone finds a group to suit their own pace.
The aim of the ride is for each person to ride within their capability and have an enjoyable day out. Rest stops are provided at Landsborough and Elmhurst with drinks and snacks and in the event of not being able to complete the ride there is a `Sag wagon’ to transport you back to the start point.
